Risks
You invest with money that you have available, in addition to your buffer for unexpected expenses. Although investing can be interesting, it also involves risks, such as the loss of (part of) your investment. It is important to be aware of this and only invest in products that you understand.
The investment risks in your portfolio are checked daily by a specialised department. The operational processes required to manage your portfolio meet high quality requirements and are in line with European standards (ISEA 3402 standard).
The investments in your portfolio are legally separate from ABN AMRO. They are in your name and are therefore your property. This means that your investments are protected in the event of ABN AMRO's bankruptcy.
Risk profiles
If you are going to invest, it is very important that your portfolio matches the risk you are willing and able to take, and your knowledge and experience in the field of investing.
ABN AMRO uses six risk profiles: from low risk (very defensive) to high risk (very offensive). Each risk profile has a recommended distribution of the invested assets across shares, bonds, alternative investments and liquidity.

Sustainability profiles
We would also like to know how important sustainability is to you when it comes to your investments. That’s why we ask you a few questions about your sustainability preferences. Based on your answers, we will discuss together which sustainability profile suits you best.
ABN AMRO uses five sustainability profiles: from 'Basic' (minimum sustainability criteria) to 'Taxonomy-aligned' (maximum sustainability criteria). Each sustainability profile has specific sustainability criteria that determine the desired level of sustainability for your investments.
